About Me
Why Instructional Design?
I'm a life-long learner with a soft spot for soft skills. With a master's degree in counselor education and a bachelor's degree in psychology, understanding how people think and learn is my jam. I find great joy in creating learning experiences that make other people's lives easier and less stressful.
My Process
Learners are always at the center of my design process, but I first seek to understand why a performance issue exists. Through data analysis, I identify knowledge or skills that employees need to obtain in order to meet performance goals or business objectives. Next, I can begin designing the eLearning experience to address the knowledge or skill gap.
I love feedback and take the time to thoughtfully consider others' viewpoints and suggestions. I believe that the collaboration, feedback cycles, and iteration that takes place during the design phase are the most important step of my process. I'm an avid problem-solver; if I don't know something, I will independently upskill or ask for help.
Development is typically quick due to the amount of thoughtful preparation that I put into my eLearning designs. I consider evaluation to be a must. I believe that eLearning experiences are only as good as the data shows. My data-driven designs lead to eLearning experiences that are learner-centered, elegant, and impactful to learners and business goals alike.
My Personal Interests
My personal interests are centered around self-care and family. I enjoy being active; whether exercising with friends, hiking with my family, or searching for waterfalls. I also regularly need to tap into my artistic nature by crafting with my kids, painting, or redecorating. Something I wish I could do more of is traveling. I love traveling to tropical islands, immersing myself in different cultures, and exploring new cuisines. I'm also weirdly into planning. Whether it's a fundraiser, a surprise party, a work project, or a vacation itinerary, I will plan for success, fun, and low stress.
